Kuan Yin Rides the Dragon, from Kuan Yin mythology, words by Connie Pwll Walck Tyler

A blending of some of the stories of Kuan Yin, Chinese Buddhist Bodhisattva of Compassion who, after emerging from the trunk of a willow tree, “spraying rays of radiant light across … the spiraling galaxies of the universe.” With her compassion she conquers the tiger and rides the “fire-tonqued dragon.”
Brigid, Fiery Arrow, developed from Irish mythology by Connie Pwll Walck Tyler
Major soprano and tenor solos, small four part choir with smaller solos, harp (or piano), violin, hand drum, flute. This mini opera is a more dramatic narrative work. 16-18 minutes
The story of the Celtic Goddess Brigid, goddess of the hearth, patron of poets, smiths and doctors. This is a tale of war and peace. Brigid, the first person to keen in Ireland, keens at the loss of her son.

It is made for the dark warm womb of a winter’s night…”
This piece has a verse for Solstice (Earth based religions), Hanukah (Judaism), Christmas (Christianity), Lailat-al-Miraj (Islam), and Kawansaa (African American), all except the Muslim holiday are winter holidays. Lailat-al-Miraj moves around the seasons as do all Muslim holidays.
